Slaves and Indentured servants were a big part in early American History. Most indentured servants were brought over by rich people because they were not able to afford passage to America. When they got to America they would work off their debt to the person who paid for their passage to America. It was supposed to be the same way with African Americans unfortunately whites thought since they had a different colored skin that they were better and they didn't have to let them go. Slaves and Indentured servants were brought over to so work for the rich people who didn't want to work. So the slaves and Indentured servants worked in the field to pay off their transportation debts. Slaves and Indentured servants were not allowed to vote on who was to be in public office. Slaves weren't allowed to vote for at least a hundred more years. After the Servants worked off their debts and owned their land they were allowed to vote. Both of these groups had a huge impact on economy. Without blacks and Indentured servants this country wouldn't have had as many people fight in the war for our countries freedom. Without all the extra people we might have lost the war. There was also a war later in American History for freedom of slaves.
